HOBY New Hampshire Announces 45th Annual Youth Leadership Seminar, Continuing a Legacy of Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders
Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership New Hampshire (HOBY NH) is proud to announce its 45th Annual Youth Leadership Seminar, a milestone event that continues more than four decades of inspiring young people to lead with integrity, empathy, and purpose. The seminar, to be held at Saint Anselm College in June, brings together emerging student leaders from across the state for an immersive three-day experience focused on leadership development and personal growth. It is part of HOBY NH’s ongoing mission to inspire and develop youth to a life dedicated to leadership, service, and innovation.
Founded in 1981 as an affiliate of the international Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership (HOBY) organization, HOBY NH has impacted over 3,200 students from more than 130 New Hampshire high schools. Each year, selected sophomores participate in hands-on workshops and service-learning projects designed to help them understand their ability to create positive change and identify where that change is needed most. The curriculum emphasizes critical thinking, ethical decision-making, and human-centered problem solving. Students are encouraged to explore their values and learn from peers with diverse perspectives through group discussions and collaborative activities. The experience is often transformational and students carry these lessons with them long after the seminar ends; alumni go on to create lasting impact through service in both their personal and professional lives.
“Our world faces increasingly complex social, economic, and civic challenges, so investing in youth development has never been more important,” said Emily Turner, Corporate Board President of HOBY NH. “When we teach young people leadership skills, we empower them to recognize that their voices matter. At the same time, we strengthen our schools, our communities, and our collective future.”
The 45th annual seminar is made possible through the dedication of volunteers and supporters across the state, many of whom are HOBY alumni who bring their own leadership experiences back to the program. As an entirely volunteer-run nonprofit organization, HOBY NH relies on donations and corporate sponsorships to keep the program accessible to students and to maintain the high-quality programming it is known for.
Community members, businesses, and alumni are encouraged to support HOBY NH’s mission by spreading the word, volunteering, or making a financial contribution. Donations directly support student programming and scholarship opportunities, ensuring that the next generation of New Hampshire leaders has every opportunity to thrive.
